I bought this house as a ruin about 17 years ago. At that time I wanted to get a holiday/weekend hiding away from the city. The old ruin in Seixal was in the middle of the village, near the sea but also not far from the mountain. It had been a typical Madeiran home, and it needed a lot of restoring to be done. A leaking roof, a low ceiling ground floor and thick solid stone walls was the thing that I bought. The ground was not too big, and there were local neighbours all around. Some have asked me why did I not by a house further away from other people, just out in the nature?
Well, I was looking for times far gone. In Seixal the village people are concerning, friendly, helpful and the kind of people that is disappearing from the modern world. As the world is changing, it is so nice to seek the nostalgic charm of the past. It gives also a safe feeling to be able to call for someone if you ever would need some help.
The house is also near small food shops, restaurants and even a fantastic night hang out.
After a long time of handling the restorative work, the house finally was finished as it is today.
