You will find natural and artificial sea water pools all around the island. They are mostly well equipped, some are paid – not expensive –and some are free. Also in most of them you can find sun beds and other sea sport equipment for rent, and most of them have refreshments for sale. The Madeira weather and the Madeira temperature make swimming possible for most of the year.~
In Seixal you have two pools, both for free. One is just below the house, an open seawater pool. There are no sun beds, but a fresh water shower. You can rent sun beds at Clube Naval do Seixal.
You can change in the house if you want and just stroll the two minutes down to the sea pool. To get to the other pool, you must go up past the church. Then you will find a sign saying picinas. Go down the sloops and there are two nice pools, one with a small beach, and the other with a cave.
You have a house for changing facilities and a fresh water shower.
In addition you might purchase refreshments in a small kiosk near the pools.
To get to the sea water pools, you might go down to Caniço de baixo.
In Reis Magos you will find everything well equipped. Also Galo Mar and Rocca Mar are recommendable. If you want a fresh water pool, you might go to Hotel Dom Pedro and use their heated pool for a small fee.
If you go down near the statue of Cristo Rei, there is a cable car going down to the pebbled beach. You can also walk down or drive down. Near the beach there is a restaurant and a complex for sun beds.
